Transportation Resources: Best Practices for Literature Searching in Transportation Research for Civil Engineers

The ETKN LibGuide, Eastern Transportation Knowledge Network: Recommended Resources for Engineers, was moved in June to a website hosted by the Transportation Library Connectivity and Development Pooled Fund (TPF -5(237)).   Originated as an ETKN project, the LibGuide had been generously hosted by the University of Arkansas, and will continue to be a valuable tool now hosted by the Pooled Fund.  The LibGuide brings together recommended resources for transportation engineers who work at state DOTs and other transportation organizations. This guide is a convenient one-stop portal for quick reference to resources in civil engineering for the transportation practitioner.   In addition, it serves as an excellent a tool for training new hires in the transportation industry, or as an introduction to transportation information sources for interns being introduced to the civil engineering profession. The guide includes search tools, statistical resources, subscription resources and transportation news feeds and blogs.  Each page of the guide has a link for users to submit comments, fostering an exchange between users and librarians.

A committee of ETKN members has developed a webinar, Transportation Resources: Best Practices for Literature Searching in Transportation Research for Civil Engineers & Planners, which will be presented first to the ETKN membership and then to a wider audience.
